The Great Escape

While my district has been preparing for Distance Learning and the majority of my colleagues have been working remotely while I have been working in groups of “less than 10,” I can’t help but wonder,

have I escaped the Coronavirus?

While I was happily handing off “Grab and Go” meals to hundreds of hungry families this week, I can’t help but wonder

have I escaped the Coronavirus?

While I was sharing “Learning Opportunities” printed packets and books to kindergarten to grade 12 students, I can’t help but wonder

have I escaped the Coronavirus?

While I was distributing Chromebooks to hundreds of families, I can’t help but wonder,

have I escaped the Coronavirus?

I have tried to avoid close contact with people who are sick; who knows what is behind the face masks being worn.

I have tried to put 6 feet distance between myself and other people; literally impossible when trying to handoff food, books, computers, and various learning materials.

I have been washing my hands with soap and water literally counting to 20.

I have been using hand sanitizer between hand washes.

I have avoided touching my eyes, nose, and mouth.

. . . time will tell . . .

  1. These are uncertain times. I think we all struggle with that nagging concern that we’ve let our guard down and become infected, like it’s our fault. Or, We weren’t meticulous enough or something. Which is really preposterous when you think about it. It’s not our fault. It’s not anyone’s fault. It just is. And it will pass and Lord willing this whole mess will move on.

  2. So awesome that you were able to do that! I feel just useless at this point since I can´t not do too much. We are technically starting our Spring break so our district is not going to expect anything from us until April 1st. .Many of us will have the Covid-19 eventually. The sad part, and probably my worst fear, is that this is the first virus of many more. We might have to get used to a new reality until we changed our bad habits as human beings, and by doing what you are doing you are one step ahead of all of us!
